Neill Island, recently name changed to Shaheed Island, is an island of the Andaman Islands located in 37 km northeast from Port Blair. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The widest part of the island is about 5 km in length so you can walk the whole island in about two hours.
To visit Neil Island the easiest, fastest & most convenient way to reach Neil is by the ferry, There are government & private ferry services available as well which takes between 90-120 minutes from Havelock and Port Blair. From Port Blair (either direct or via) or Havelock Island to Neil Island via ferry, Makruzz & Green Ocean is a great choice for your travel.
Neil Island known as the 'Vegetable Bowl' of Andamans, it has some wonderful beaches, ideal for leisure as well as adventure. It can be called a less-commercialized version of Havelock Island. Ramnagar, Sitapur, Laxmanpur, and Bharatpur are some of the popular beaches here, named after characters of the great Hindu epic, Ramayana. For tourist the island, with its very relaxed vibes and long, deserted beaches is a place to chill out after the "bustle" of Havelock Island.
